Welcome to the Menai Strait Regattas.
At an emergency meeting of the Menai Strait Combined Regattas Committee on Sunday 4th October 2026, a formal motion was passed to wind up the Menai Strait Combined Regattas Committee which has been a collaboration between a dozen kindred clubs to organize the Regattas for the last 70 years or so. This was triggered by the decision of the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club to withdraw from the collaboration and the inescapable conclusion that, without their support, the Committee could not run future Menai Strait Regattas. We acknowledge that the RAYC shoulders the majority of the work for the event, being the main host venue, the official organising authority for five of the twelve regattas and provides most of the race officials for the remaining seven.
The Committee wish to emphasize that this decision was not due to any inherent problem with the Regattas which ran very successfully this year and remained financially solvent.
The responsibility for the running of future regattas on the Menai Strait will be taken up by the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club. They will publish their plans for 2027 in due course.
